Al-Nejashi (Negash) is a historic and culturally significant site in Ethiopia, known for its deep Islamic heritage and its ties to the early history of Islam. It is located in the Tigray region, about 60 kilometers from Mekelle, the regional capital. The town and its historic mosque, Al-Nejashi Mosque, are named after King Negus (Al-Najashi), the Christian ruler of Aksum who provided sanctuary to early Muslim refugees during the time of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
